Model Max Rendell Gets Personal

Scouted by friend and model Alexander Beck, the man from Cambridge, England started modeling in the fall of 2011. Opening for Hardy Aimes and closing for Topman at the London Collections show that same year, he continues to be a constant face that graces the runways of Canali, Dolce & Gabbana and Dunhill.  Having appeared in editorials for Vogue Hommes Int’l, VMAN and Arena Homme + to name but a few, he has also been the face of advertising campaigns for  Burberry, Pringle of Scotland and Dior Homme.

Age: 23

Instagram handle: maxrendell

Agency: Unsigned Group –  www.unsignedgrp.com

Fitness Regime:

– Two days a week football training for an hour and a half
– Saturday football game
– Swim as a cool down
– Attempt to use the gym every other day if not every day, working on alternate muscle groups.

How did you get your start in the industry?:

I got into the industry five years ago thanks to a friend of mine I grew up with from all the way back in primary school. A fellow model, Alexander Beck, who had been in the industry already for a year, mentioned to me in the local pub one night that I should come up to London with him and meet his mother agent. I went up the following day with him to Unsigned (‘Roost’ at the time) and met Cesar Perin. We got on very well and Cesar was very enthusiastic about taking me on board and in the coming days sent me to meet with agencies in London. So therefore I have to be very grateful to Alex – whom I still occasionally see and to my mother agent Cesar.

Best feature/worst feature:

I would say my best feature is my ability to make people laugh, mainly when I’m not trying to.
My worst feature is my impatience, I’m not very British when it comes to that.

Hobbies:

– Travelling as much as possible.
– Reading (as boring as it sounds), my favourite book of all time is: Magic of Reality by Richard Dawkins.
– Football … or soccer for you Americans!
– Cooking, although I’m not a great chef, I do take pleasure in doing so.

Who are your idols:

There are many people I look up to regarding work and how they have used their modelling career as a stepping stone, for example Andrew Cooper. He has established himself very highly in the industry and has used this to further his career in making diet plans, juice books, the lot. I like the idea of creating something from scratch with the knowledge, experience and money that can be made in the modelling world.

Other idols of mine are of course my parents, who have been always hard working in their lives and showed me how to believe in myself.

Three words to describe yourself:

– British
– Joker
– Driven

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you on a shoot?:

Due to the fact that on the runway the changes between each look have to be very quick, things can go terribly wrong. This one incident happened when a guy I know was taking his top off whilst the dresser was taking down his pants. Along with his trousers came his underwear, with his arms locked in the sweater he was removing, he was trapped, arms tied above his head, sweater over his face and trousers around his ankles … let’s say he was fully exposed! The look on the dressers face was priceless let alone the sheer speed that the model got undressed after. The dressing room was in hysterics.

Monkeying around on camera, I can't adult today.

Top 3 beauty/grooming products:

  • Keep hydrated, drink plenty of water. It really does beat any beauty product.
  • Moisturize daily.
  • I look very scruffy when I don’t take care of my facial hair, so I would
recommend investing in a good shaver.

When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?:

Traveling and experiencing things with my girlfriend, spending time doing what we love the most. We love creating and filming content (videos or pictures), whether it is travel, dieting or fitness routines. You can see the latest videos on my Facebook page ‘Max Rendell’. Don’t forget to give me a like 😉

Where is your favorite place to travel? Why?:

The most beautiful place I have been in recent years has to be Iceland with Louis Vuitton due to its unbelievable scenery and picturesque landscapes. To be able to have witnessed the northern lights there and experience the natural geothermic pools was truly incredible. However, New York has a special place in my heart due to the people I have met there – the endless opportunities and upbeat lifestyle.

Favorite food:

My favourite food has to be Indian. I am a huge fan of spicy food. I can sadly say I have never tasted Indian food from India though, only the British-indian cuisine, which is largely disappointing and certainly on my to do list.

Favorite movie:

I am not really a movie person, I get ridiculed for not having watched some of the all time classics. So if you try getting my attention with one – put on a good horror. But if I was to choose then it would have to be something like “The Shawshank Redemption,” which funnily enough, I only watched recently. See … bad isn’t it?

Favorite song/artists:

Drake and Ed Sheeran are definitely up there for me. I can listen to them in any mood, but other than that, anything I can jump around and sing along to really.

If you could be on the cover of any magazine, what would it be?:

I think it would have to be GQ. It has been a magazine I have been surrounded by from a young age being a Brit. And although I have been  featured in both Italian GQ and British GQ a couple of times, I’m yet to push for that cover image.

If you were not modeling, what would you be doing?:

I had just started university when I got scouted, so by now, I would have finished my degree in Psychology. Whether I would have stuck with it would have been another matter. But, I always wanted to become a counsellor.

What are your plans for the future? Who would you like to work with?:

My girlfriend Sabrina and I have been working together recently. We have been filming our travels making short videos consisting of insider tips and places to see and visit in those locations as well as fitness videos and tips. Travelling is a huge passion of ours as you know and we enjoy documenting them along the way, sharing our experience with others and capturing beautiful moments as they arise. We both would love to bring that foward working in collaboration with hotels and travel companies.
